You don’t have to be a gamer to enjoy Daft Punk’s new “Contact” experience anymore.
In September, the legendary electronic music duo became the latest act to be immortalized in the world of Fortnite. Their in-game event featured an interactive audiovisual experience that allowed players to explore a custom world soundtracked by their ageless library.
Now, Daft Punk and Fortnite developer Epic Games have released an official music video for the robots’ 2013 single “Contact” as seen in the game. The video features all the visuals from the in-game event and it’s loaded with easter eggs calling back to all eras of their sound, making it a must watch for fans even if they have no interest in Fortnite.
If you’re wondering if this means Daft Punk are returning, the answer is no. However, Thomas Bangalter recently made a surprise appearance at Paris’ Pompidou Centre for a rare DJ set alongside with Fred again.., Busy P and Erol Alkan, marking his performance since 2017. His Daft Punk counterpart, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, is rumored to be working on a solo album and was featured on Rosalía’s new album LUX.
