Here’s What You Missed at Martin Garrix’s Spectacular 3-Day Takeover of Red Rocks

Few stages in the world command the reverence of Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and last week, Martin Garrix claimed it in unforgettable fashion.

Carved between the monolithic sandstone walls of Colorado’s Rocky Mountain foothills, the storied open-air venue became the epicenter of EDM as Garrix launched his first-ever Red Rocks headline run with a three-night takeover.

The Dutch superstar turned the amphitheater into a high-altitude playground of light, sound and emotion, marking a milestone over a decade in the making for one of EDM’s most dominant forces. Joined by a cast of high-profile collaborators and friends, Garrix used the opportunity to flex his genre-blending production chops from euphoric progressive house to drum & bass and more, all amplified by Red Rocks’ jaw-dropping canvas.

As the final night’s lasers faded across the Denver skyline, we were left with one lingering thought: was this a once-in-a-lifetime event, or the start of a new annual tradition at a bastion of EDM culture?

Read on to discover five unforgettable moments from Garrix’s momentous Red Rocks debut.

Martin Garrix unveils a brand-new intro

Known for producing a variety of captivating introductions over the years, Garrix and his team fired up the nostalgia machine with a never-before-seen intro for his Red Rocks shows.

Each set started with a video featuring a teenaged Garrix introducing himself on a livestream before running through a fast-paced compilation of fans, news reports and more mentioning Garrix’s name over the years. The misty-eyed crowds were then treated to an explosive buildup and drop, setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Martin Garrix and Marshmello go b2b for the first time ever

Two of the biggest names in dance music shared the stage for the first time as Garrix welcomed Marshmello to go b2b with him on night two. The pair showed great chemistry on the decks, delivering an energetic set that mixed their mainstream pop tracks alongside grittier, trap-inspired cuts.

U2 legend Bono dances along with the Red Rocks crowd

An event of this magnitude was sure to bring out the stars. Not only was Garrix joined onstage by the likes of Afrojack, Marshmello and Alesso throughout the takeover, but his past collaborator, the legendary U2 frontman Bono, was seen dancing in the crowd.

Garrix and Bono previously worked together on “We Are The People,” the official anthem of the UEFA Euro 2020 soccer tournament. Now, Bono had the privilege of watching his protégé tear up the dancefloor at one of the nation’s most famous open-air concert venues.

Martin Garrix and Alesso go b2b for the first time since Tomorrowland 2023

Martin Garrix and Alesso are longtime friends who both rose to international fame due to their beloved releases in the 2010s. Their first time performing a full b2b set was at the legendary Belgian festival Tomorrowland in 2023, and they reprised their partnership with a euphoric b2b set on the final night of Garrix’s Red Rocks takeover.

Their set included many moments that mixed tracks from the two superstars, and even surprised fans with a melodic bass drop courtesy of AVELLO’s “Destiny” remix.

Martin Garrix’s production team left no stone unturned

Red Rocks is known for hosting events with incredible production, and Garrix’s team took that as a challenge. Their custom setup included the DJ’s patented cross stage design, illuminated by copious amounts of LEDs and complimented by strobe lights, lasers and columns of fire galore. It was a spectacle that will be remembered just as much for its visual immersion as its musical genius.
