Seven Lions and HALIENE have reunited for “Cold as Snow,” a stunning track that suggests some relationships are already over by the time we notice they’ve frozen solid. The haunting track is the third single from the former’s long-awaited sophomore album, Asleep In The Garden Of Infernal Stars, due out December 12th.
Some end in fire, others in ice, and “Cold As Snow” chooses the temperature that actually kills. The lyrics sketch a relationship that’s become its own kind of ghost story, all unanswered desires and phantom touches.
HALIENE plays the muse who’s tired of being frozen in someone else’s imagination, demanding release from a love that’s preserved rather than alive, the kind of truth that arrives too late to change anything but early enough to sting: “Lost in your web of secrets / But not in your bed / And yet I find myself dreaming of things instead / Do shadows of me leave you bleeding with regret?”
Meanwhile, Seven Lions threads her verses through spellbinding production that pulls equally from his metal roots and his instinct for cinematic sweep. The track shivers and builds, its icy synths crackling like frost across glass.
“This is a really special one for me,” he said. “So many influences from the music I love have made its way into this song. I knew the only person that could do it justice was HALIENE. She absolutely crushed it.”
