  2. Max Styler has been named the top music producer on 1001Tracklists’ “Top 101 Producers of 2025” list, a milestone that reflects both his incredible reach and sustained support from his peers. A member of the EDM.com Class of 2025, Styler finds himself among a rare cohort of producers defining what success in dance music looks like, not only in terms of reach, but in terms of influence. The annual ranking, based entirely on which artists’ tracks were most played by DJs in verified live sets, radio shows and mixes, places the house music virtuoso ahead of hundreds across the global EDM scene. Unlike fan-voted awards, the 1001Tracklists ranking is rooted in real-world data. Ergo, each entry is a reflection of real-world selection, music that performers chose to include in their sets over the last 12 months. As a result, it’s come to be seen as one of the genre’s most honest indicators of who’s shaping the sound of the moment. Rounding out the top five after Styler are GENESI, David Guetta, Chris Lake and ARTBAT. For Styler, the accolade marks another defining moment in a year already stacked with milestones. Tracks like “London’s On Fire” and “I Know You Want To” have lit up dancefloors from North America to Ibiza, and his music has become a regular feature in sets from some of the scene’s most influential selectors. But perhaps his most significant evolution is the one just beginning with last week’s launch of Nu Moda, his new record label. The imprint’s debut release, Styler’s track “You & Me,” sets the stage for its forthcoming launch event at Art Basel in Miami this December along with a larger showcase planned for Miami Music Week in 2026. You can find the full “Top 101 Producers of 2025” list here. 3. The tug-of-war between technological innovation and artist protection in the age of AI may have found its frontline after Spotify announced a partnership with major record labels to develop what the company calls “responsible” AI music tools. The agreement with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, Merlin and Believe outlines four guiding principles, according to Spotify. All AI products developed through this initiative will be licensed in advance, participation will be opt-in, artists will be fairly compensated, and the tools will aim to strengthen the connection between artists and fans. The news arrives as concern continues to grow over how generative AI will impact creators’ rights. “We will build products that create wholly new revenue streams for rightsholders, artists, and songwriters, ensuring they are properly compensated for uses of their work and transparently credited for their contributions,” reads a blog post from Spotify announcing the partnership. The rise of AI in music has already sparked backlash from many artists and industry figures. Companies like Google and Meta have faced criticism for allegedly training AI models on copyrighted content without consent as platforms have seen a surge in AI-generated recordings, some even impersonating real artists. Spotify itself says it has removed tens of millions of AI tracks from its platform over the past year. In response, Spotify says it has begun building a generative AI research lab and a dedicated product team focused on developing a new set of features. While details on what’s forthcoming have not been disclosed, recent AI-powered rollouts such as the AI DJ and Daylist suggest a continued interest in personalization and discovery. “AI is the most consequential technology shift since the smartphone, and it’s already reshaping how music is created and experienced,” said Gustav Söderström, Spotify’s Co-President and Chief Product and Technology Officer. “At Spotify, we want to build this future hand in hand with the music industry, guided by clear principles and deep respect for creators, just as we did in the days of piracy. Our company brings deep research expertise to this opportunity and we’re actively growing our AI team and capabilities to drive the continued growth of the entire music ecosystem.” The post Spotify Announces Partnership With Major Labels to Develop “Responsible” AI Music Tools appeared first on EDM. 4. Few names have left a bigger fingerprint on electronic music’s modern era than Roger de Graaf, the co-founder and former CEO of Spinnin’ Records. Now, just a year after stepping away from the label he helped turn into an EDM powerhouse, he’s plotting his second act. The Dutch exec has unveiled Fluent Music Group, a new Amsterdam-based talent ecosystem. Forged alongside former Spinnin’ colleague and marketing executive Robert Tammens, Fluent is built on a hybrid model that will encompass recording, publishing and consulting with an objective to develop the next generation of electronic music stars. At Spinnin’, de Graaf played a central role in shaping the label’s creative direction and global footprint, building a platform that helped develop breakout successes for artists like Martin Garrix, Afrojack and Oliver Heldens, just to name a few. His work in A&R and label strategy was instrumental in positioning Spinnin’ as one of dance music’s most influential imprints, ultimately leading to its $100 million acquisition by Warner Music Group in 2017. He formally stepped into the CEO role following the sale, but his influence had guided the label since its inception. He eventually departed in November 2024, leaving behind a legacy that remains engrained in the genre’s current evolution. With Fluent Music Group, de Graaf is channeling that legacy into a more agile structure designed to meet artists where they are, both creatively and professionally. “I want to help artists build their careers and give them real direction in a fast-changing industry, to move quickly when they need support, to make them feel heard, and to provide true A&R guidance,” he said in a statement. “I have always felt a responsibility to guide and support artists at every stage of their career.” Tammens brings deep roots in digital strategy and branding, having previously led Molecule, a creative agency with clients ranging from Sony Music to Vogue. Fluent will lean heavily on that expertise to craft community-driven growth strategies that go beyond traditional label services. “This is not about nostalgia,” Tammens added. “It’s about creating an environment where new voices can thrive and where great music has the space to connect with audiences again.” The post Spinnin’ Records Founder Launches New Firm for Electronic Artist Development appeared first on EDM. 13. New music highlights from Dancing Astronaut’s Artists to Watch in 2025 SHOUSE – Sunrise (Henri Bergmann remix) Henri Bergmann delivers a stunning new remix of SHOUSE’s “Sunrise,” out now via Hell Beach/Onelove. Reimagining the Australian-New Zealand duo’s latest single through her melodic lens, Bergmann transforms the track into a progressive and euphoric journey. The remix has already become a standout moment in her recent performances at Brunch Barcelona and Zamna Tenerife, where it drew powerful crowd reactions. – Alex Lambeau Layton Giordani, GENESI & Be No Rain – Call You Back GENESI teams up with Layton Giordani and vocalist Be No Rain for “Call You Back,” a groovy crossover release on Giordani’s new MADMINDS record label. Recently named a Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2025, GENESI continues his breakout run following standout releases on Diynamic, Truesoul, and Aeterna. With “Call You Back,” Giordani and GENESI deliver a club record that will surely see widespread DJ support across all sub genres of house and techno. – Alex Lambeau MARTA – No Small Talk Toronto-based MARTA delivers her second original release of 2025 with “No Small Talk.” The self-released single follows August’s “World Of The Rave.” She’s in the middle of a fall tour that included a date at Magnetic World Festival in Halifax and upcoming dates at D/partment in her hometown of Toronto plus Montreal, Winnipeg and Ottawa. – Ross Goldenberg Otherwish – It’s Okay To Wonder [EP] When Otherwish took over the stage in the heart of Times Square back in early September, his hour-long pop-up set was packed with one unreleased original after another. Fast forward a month and a half, and the former Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch has returned to his longtime home of This Never Happened with a five-sided EP, It’s Okay To Wonder. Following “All About This,” Otherwish’s fifth extended release on Lane 8’s imprint further refines his distinct melodic house sound that has continually set him apart over the past two years. – Ross Goldenberg Max Styler – You & Me Max Styler ushers in a new chapter with “You & Me,” one of Dancing Astronaut‘s most-anticipated IDs of the year and the debut release on his freshly minted label, Nu Moda. Most notably included in Styler’s Seismic 2024 set, the single from Dancing Astronaut‘s reigning Breakout Artist of the Year captures the essence of what Nu Moda represents—artistry without limits and a commitment to those redefining the sound of dance music. “You & Me” carries an infectious energy that embodies Styler’s evolving vision as both a producer and curator. With this release, he invites listeners into the world of Nu Moda—a space for creativity, connection, and forward-thinking sound. – Danielle Carty ChaseWest – Scream! After months of circulating as a highly-anticipated ID, ChaseWest’s “Scream!” has finally been given its official release, just in time for Halloween. Championed in sets by artists like Michael Bibi and Adam Ten, the track fuses eerie energy with the Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch alumni’s tech house grooves. With screams and howls woven into its rhythm, “Scream!” is a dance floor ready thriller that keeps the energy high from start to finish. – Liana Stern Bob Moses – BLINK [Album] Written across a flurry of Dropbox links and Discord notifications traded across coasts (Tom Howie in New York, Jimmy Valence in Los Angeles), Bob Moses’ BLINK asks an existential question: “How do you reconcile the desire to have a meaningful life with the realization that it’s gone in an instant, that you can’t hold onto things for too long?” After remotely tooling ideas from keyboard riffs and drum loops, the electronic-rock duo reconvened in several cities, including Toronto and Vancouver, to answer it. The resulting LP – their fourth – straddles the ever-thin line between for now and forever. Across 10 stirring tracks that find the outfit at the top of its game, Bob Moses awakens to a reality equal parts bitter and sweet: The only way to fix ephemera is to accept that it’s all ephemeral. “Life moves so quickly that it’s sometimes hard to keep up. Are we doing all we should be? Are we achieving our goals, hitting the next level, and creating the most meaningful life we can be? It’s a lot to reckon with,” Howie says of BLINK’s title track. “Maybe it’s best to acknowledge that being present in the moment, cherishing our experiences, and having the courage to continue on the journey is often the best we can do. Because, you can blink and then it’s gone.” The album plays a lot like that, too. – Rachel Narozniak Ian Snow – Sub Zero Snow falls softly. Ian Snow hits hard. “Sub Zero,” the Denver-based producer’s answer to June’s “Ice Waves,” deepens the frigid imagery and sounds of his burgeoning catalog with enough bass to turn a whiteout into a blackout. Sonically, it fuses the newer elements of his freewheeling, low-end-heavy sound with the stylistic groundwork he laid under his earlier project, SNOWMASS. “Midtempo will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s bouncy, grimy, and danceable — driven by the sounds of the future,” he says. “I love taking every nook and cranny of a track and glitching it out while still preserving its body-moving impact. To me, ‘Sub Zero’ is the epitome of that balance.” The track (and temperatures) drops via Bite This! – Rachel Narozniak Afrojack & Eva Simon – Take Over Control (Remixes from Maddix, HILLS) Afrojack’s celebration of 15 years of “Take Over Control” commences with a pair of remixes from Maddix and HILLS that make like the song’s title to do just that. With dynamite in its DNA, the former’s spin detonated at Tomorrowland Brasil last weekend, conferring a raw new vitality to one of Afrojack’s most seminal releases. Maddix’s hard, hammering take both incites chaos in raveland and strikes a sharp contrast to the late-night house sensibilities of HILLS’ interpretation. Slick and controlled, with weighty bass heft and club groove, the duo reframes “Take Over Control” for a different but no less propulsive dance/electronic setting, naturally infusing it with their effortless cool. Consider control taken. – Rachel Narozniak Featured image: Henri Bergmann/IG The post Dancing Astronaut’s New Music Friday: Henri Bergmann, GENESI, MARTA, Max Styler, and more (October 17, 2025) appeared first on Dancing Astronaut. 14. 17. The Brooklyn Mirage, one of New York City’s most beloved electronic music destinations, has filed a permit to demolish a significant portion of its East Williamsburg complex, marking another chapter in the venue’s troubled year. The demolition application covers 32,000 square feet of the roughly 80,000 square-foot complex, with an estimated cost of $1.5 million. The permit specifically targets temporary structures within Avant Gardner’s multi-venue complex, where the Mirage has remained shuttered since October 2024. The permit filing raises immediate questions: Is this the end of the Brooklyn Mirage as fans know it, or simply a necessary teardown to make way for something new? At present, that remains unclear. The demolition permit comes after months of turmoil for the venue and its parent company, Avant Gardner. The company filed for bankruptcy in early August with total debt of $153.3 million. The financial collapse followed a failed reopening attempt, with shows originally scheduled for May that never materialized due to permit and inspection issues. City records show that the Department of Buildings ordered Avant Gardner to “bring the Brooklyn Mirage into code compliance through removal or repair”, suggesting that structural safety concerns may have prompted the demolition decision. Previous construction permits for the venue have been withdrawn. No timeline has been provided for the demolition work, and Avant Gardner has not responded to media requests for comment about their plans for the property. The company has reportedly proposed a settlement with creditors, but the future use of the site remains unspecified. The partial nature of the demolition—affecting less than half of the total complex—leaves open the possibility that some version of the venue could return. The Avant Gardner complex has historically housed multiple performance spaces, and the 48,000 square feet not included in the demolition permit could theoretically support a redesigned or downsized operation. For years, the Brooklyn Mirage has been a cornerstone of New York’s electronic music scene, hosting major international DJs and providing an open-air experience unlike most urban venues. Its distinctive outdoor setup and impressive production values made it a destination for dance music fans from across the region. The venue’s potential permanent closure would represent a significant loss for the city’s nightlife ecosystem, particularly in the wake of other venue closures and rising operational costs that have challenged the industry in recent years. As the permit moves through the approval process, fans, artists, and industry observers are left waiting to learn whether this is truly the end of an era or merely an interlude before a new chapter begins. 19. As Ibiza’s 2025 season came to a close this past weekend, Pacha Ibiza once again reaffirmed its status as the heartbeat of the White Isle. After another standout summer with closing sets from RÜFÜS DU SOL, Sonny Fodera, CamelPhat, Mau P, Defected, and Music On, we wanted to look back at the defining elements that made the 2025 season unforgettable. 1. Sundays with Solomun stole the show Sundays remained sacred thanks to Solomun, whose marathon sessions transformed each week into one of the island’s most unmissable nights. Drawing crowds week after week and featuring guests like Steve Angello, Anyma, Peggy Gou, Keinemusik, and more, the Diynamic Records boss turned the weekend’s end into a ritual, delivering expansive, genre-spanning sets that combined technical mastery with unmatched atmosphere. 2. A lineup strategy that felt curated, not crowded Pacha Ibiza’s 2025 lineup struck the perfect balance between iconic names and rising talent. The club doubled down on intentional programming, featuring names like Marco Carola, Defected, Bora Uzer, Sonny Fodera, Camelphat, the first female-led residency from BLOND:ISH, and other names like former Dancing Astronaut Breakout Artist of the Year, Mau P. Subtle beams, textured visuals, and color-driven cues enriched the environment, complementing the music rather than distracting from it. The result was a setting that felt alive yet natural. 6. The return of the Open-Air Garden Pre-Party Outside, the return of Pacha Ibiza’s open-air garden pre-party added a touch of laid-back magic to the nights—recapturing the spirit of early Ibiza with Balearic sounds and sunset drinks before the main event inside. 7.
